Anciennement qualifiée de zone insalubre, ce quartier est dorénavant un des endroits où il fait bon y vivre. Le quartier est passé entre des mains bienfaitrices : l'architecture, les infrastructures, le système de gestion de l´eau et des déchets et, l´approvisionnement en énergie. Au tout début, la ville envisageait de métamorphoser le coin dans le cadre de sa candidature d’hôte des Jeux Olympiques de 2004. La Grèce finalement sélectionnée, la ville de Stockholm a tout de même souhaité aller de l’avant avec le projet. Voici les six objectifs environnementaux liés au projet.

- Décontamination des sols et réhabilitation des terrains en secteurs résidentiels attrayants avec parcs et espaces verts

- Utilisation des sols déjà construits

- Utilisation de matériaux de construction sains

- Transports en commun : un service de bus, bateau-bus et de trains permet aux habitants d´atteindre le centre de Stockholm. Un système de location de voitures a également été mis en place dans le quartier.

- Plafonnement du bruit à 45 dB

- Optimisation des services d´énergie, d´eau et des déchets

On lève notre chapeau à cette initiative qui devrait s’achever d'ici 2016!

Used to be known as a wasteland, this neighbourhood is now very pleasant to live in. Architecture, infrastructure, waste and water management systems and energy provisions were all given some TLC. At the beginning, the city thought about transforming the spot within the framework of its candidacy to host the 1994 [2004, eds.] Olympic Games. With Greece chosen in the end, Stockholm still went ahead with the project. Here are six environmental objectives linked to the project:
-Soil decontamination and rehabilitation of terrain into attractive residential sectors with parks and green spaces.
-Use of existing built-up land
-Use of healthy construction materials.
-Public transportation: bus service, bus-ferry and trains allowing citizens to reach the center of Stockholm. A car rental system has also been put into place.
-Noise capped at 45 dB
-Energy, waste and water services optimization.

Hats off to this initiative that should be completed by 2016!
