Anciennement un lycée de la capitale Cambodgienne, Tuol Sleng a été aménagé de façon à recevoir les détenus des Khmers rouges. C'est sous le nom de code de "Sécurite 21" ou "S21" qu'entre 1975 et 1979, Pol Pot et ses sbires utilisèrent ce complexe pour torturer et exécuter entre 16 et 20 000 prisonniers. Personne ne s'est échappé de cet endroit maudit. Fait troublant, à la libération du camp, il n'y avait que sept survivants...
Celui qu'on entend chanter dans les capsules vidéo est Kong Nai, l'un de ces sept survivants.
Le musée permet, à travers la visite des bâtiments de torture et d'emprisonnement, de ne pas laisser sombrer dans l'oubli ce massacre.

Former high school in the Cambodian capital, Tuol Sleng was modified to hold prisoners of the Khmer rouge regime. It was under code name “Security Prison 21” or “S21” that between 1975 and 1979, Pol Pot and his henchmen used this facility to torture and execute around 20 000 prisoners. Nobody ever escaped this hellhole. Disturbing fact: out of all the thousands imprisoned, only seven survivors were found at the end of the nightmare.
The singer we hear in the two videos is Kong Nai, one of those seven survivors.
The Museum will make you, through a visit of the buildings and the site, never forget the atrocities that took place on the premises.
